Shaunta’h Powell – Founder, Divine Inspirations Family Network (DIFN)

Over 25 years ago, God placed it on Shaunta’h Powell’s heart to serve families and communities in need, and she felt a deep desire to help those experiencing homelessness, which has long been a significant issue. Following this calling, she drafted a proposal to create programs that would support families and strengthen communities, sending it to then-NYC Congressman Floyd Flake’s office. She received an invitation to meet—but at the time, pregnant with three children and experiencing homelessness herself, she realized she wasn’t yet in a place to help others.

Through faith, perseverance, and determination, Shaunta’h turned her vision into reality. Today, she leads Divine Inspirations Family Network (DIFN), a nonprofit dedicated to empowering underserved families and fostering community unity. She has led initiatives from back-to-school supply drives and operating a local food pantry to family-centered events like the RVA Family Glow in the Dark Skate and the Week of Peace community events, promoting harmony, resilience, and connection across Richmond neighborhoods.

Shaunta’h’s experience spans community, professional, and faith-based service. She has worked as a preschool teacher in a daycare, mortgage loan processor, and Prior Authorization Specialist, and has served as secretary/administrator for her church, gaining extensive experience in organization, administration, and leadership. Even while being diagnosed with breast cancer last year, she continued her work, leading programs and supporting families with unwavering dedication. Now in remission, her journey reflects resilience, strength, and a deep commitment to service.

A seasoned community leader, Shaunta’h has served on the Parent Advisory Council in NYC schools, as a committee member for the NYC DOE C-30 process, President of the Athletic Booster Club at Henrico High School, and in leadership roles with Glen Allen Ravens and several Virginia semi-professional football teams.

Shaunta’h’s compassion, perseverance, and vision continue to drive DIFN’s programs, leaving a lasting, positive impact on families and communities she serves.
